Join Our Beauty Matters

Those of us with curly, kinky hair, brown skin, and curvy bodies are justified to change that which has brought disgrace to ourselves and to others. More importantly, these experiences possibly suggest that both self-esteem and attractiveness determine socialization, socioeconomic status, mate selection (Robinson-Moore, 2008) depression, anxiety and low self-worth. Unlike Black men and White women, also two underrepresented groups, many women of color have a double jeopardy of their own: race and sexuality. They have to deal with another form of discrimination that is not shared by White women or Black men: being overlooked and invisible (Burkley, 2010; Kunjufu, 2014).

Because the most critical aspect of self-love and leadership is self-esteem and self-efficacy (Brown, Haygood, & McLean, 2010, pg. 3), our desire is to dispose faulty thinking as it relates to how Black/Brown women perceive their beauty, to promote sisterhood, and to advocate self-love, by making women know that OUR BEAUTY MATTERS.

Our annual membership program is open to women all around the world who want to embrace Y/Our Beauty. This is more than a movement to change your life. It is a decision to be an example.
