Her Story...Meet Sharita Mona

 

Although Sharita Mona has served in many roles, the common denominator in her personal and career tenure is Leadership. Her experience has been woven in the avenues of teaching in elementary school to owning her own businesses. One of her most profound experiences in leadership has been consulting with small businesses and start-up companies, particularly those owned and operated by African-Americans and women.

 

After teaching school children for six years, she decided to focus her career in the mental health industry. In 2004, she created a mental health agency with one location and three staff members. Within a few short years, the company grew to 9 locations and over 100 employees. As a result of her success in the mental health field, she started a business consulting firm, worked with start-ups, served as a project manager and provided executive coaching services. In 2012, she decided to combine her passions and open an hourly drop in childcare and Montessori preschool in 2012.

 

However, her experience is not limited to professional work alone. She is a certified business coach through instruction at North Carolina State University and a Certified Purpose and Vision Navigator. She is currently finishing up her final weeks of the Inner Vision Institute for Spiritual Development Personal Development Program founded by Iyanla Vanzant, and training to become a trainer with the Google founded program Search Inside Yourself

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and a master’s degree in Reading Education from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and is presently a second year Ph.D. student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Leadership Studies. 

 

In between school, work, and her own business endeavors, she enjoys special moments as a mother of four beautiful girls, reading, and working with children.

 

Her future plans include opening a leadership academy that promotes leadership, purpose, vision, and entrepreneurship while working with educators and schools to implement programs that promote the same.
